We recently celebrated our cultural diversity in Our Lady of Lourdes with a celebration in the school hall. The children were encouraged to wear their traditional clothes from their native countries. The parents went to great efforts to cook traditional food from their respective countries and their was some delicious food on offer. Everyone got to try the different foods and this was an interesting experience for all involved. The children had decorated the hall and there was music from the different countries. All in all it was a great celebration of the cultural diversity that we have in Our Lady of Lourds and is part of our wider effort to bring different people from different cultures together more often.

The annual Fai five a side tournament was on recently. As usual we had a big representation at the tournament with three boys teams and two girls teams. All teams performed really well. The girls were very unlucky. They won their first two matches but lost 1-0 in their final game and as a result were eliminated. The boys teams had more luck. Team 2 won all three of their matches and advanced to the next stage of the Limerick finals to take place at a later date. Team 1 also advanced by winning their first two games and then getting a great draw in their final match. So we will now have two teams representing Our Lady of Lourdes at the Limerick finals. Their was some great individual and team performances on the day. Well done to all involved.

We recently had a big Spring Clean up in the school which was organised by our Gree Schools committee. All the school took part and each class group was assigned a certain area of the school to pick up rubbish and do a general tiday up. Lots of rubbish was collected and our school is looking a lot tidier as a result. Well done to everyone involved.
